Steven Gerrard is winning his battle to lead Liverpool into tomorrow's Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie with Chelsea.
The midfielder was rested for Saturday's 4-0 victory over Blackburn at Anfield following scans that showed a recurrence of his groin injury, but the Liverpool manager, Rafael Benítez, today confirmed that he was responding well to treatment and will travel to London with the party later today.
"Steven is getting better, he has been working with the physio and will train later today," said Benítez. "We will then discuss the situation with the doctors, but Steven will travel with the party to London and I will make a decision tomorrow.
"Obviously we do not want him to break down again, he could then be out for 10 to 16 days. But the injury is not a massive one, it will be a calculated gamble to play him but one that I will consider.
"We are 3-1 down and we know that everything can change if we have Steven in the side and he plays well."
Bolton's performance at Stamford Bridge on Saturday has also provided the Liverpool manager with hope that his side can comeback against Guus Hiddink's side.
Bolton were 4-0 down before scoring three second-half goals and coming close to securing a fourth late on in the game.
"They [Bolton] showed that if you play well, put pressure on a team and have luck then you can do well," said Benítez. "We will approach the game in the same way as we always do; to win. We have to score an early goal and that will give us confidence."
"It is the players on the pitch who can make a massive difference. If we win it will be them, if we lose we will be in it all together."
Javier Mascherano is back from suspension for Liverpool who have no other injury concerns.
